Kill.switch starts you off in the back streets of the Middle East. Your mission – kill anything that moves by any means necessary. With a huge arsenal of weapons from sniper rifles to flashbang it’s really up to you on how they go down. Kill.Switch features an offensive cover system which in a word is “awesome”. With the ability to hide behind just about anything adds a welcome change to how this game is played.

Where this game really shines is just the pure action of the game. There isn’t really a dull moment in the game. After you finish off one group of bad guys the next batch is just around the corner waiting for you. Every mission has a different objective and a different way of accomplishing it. Some missions you are finding and blowing up things. Others, more of a long range battle with a sniper rifle. In other words: not boring. Keeping you on your toes the entire game prevents this from being just another shooter.

If there is a boring part to the game it would be the storyline. And as with most shooter games this is what they usually lack. After completion of a mission you get to see a video clip of a memory of a women in a blue dress and that’s about as exciting as that story gets. Buts for what it lacks in story it makes up for fun action gameplay.
Kill.switch features just one mode – single player. This is one of my few complaints about this game. Replay value is zilch. This could have been a great multiplayer game especially having such a lead before Counter Strike eventually makes its way to Xbox LIVE. In fact just thinking about how dynamic the gameplay online could have been makes me shiver maybe Kill.Switch 2 will… Namco please!

Graphics are superb. With bullet damage everywhere and some nicely played gas barrels taking out some of those harder to see enemies is a little easier. Maybe a tad more environmental damage would have been nice like catwalks falling. Gun recoil is accurate per gun. The AK is all over while M4 burst is accurate.
This game is missing breathing. And what I mean by this is while in zoom you are completely stable. With so many games featuring this, it would have been a nice addition to add to the realism.

Sounds are rights on bullets hitting wood and bullets hitting metal actually sound real. Controls are run of the mill and quite simple to use. With your average Halo controls with a few exceptions it quite easy to pick up and get going.
Now onto this offensive cover system. This takes Splinter Cell’s move list to a whole new level. With the ability to duck under boxes throw you gun over it and aim at the bad guys without being shot – ’bout damn time. While your aim in those situations is not so good that’s to be expected because in real life you cant see them.

However there are different levels of cover in which you can control with the stick. While pressing the left trigger on nothing else you remain completely hidden in no danger of being stuck. But if you press forward on the analog stick you stick yourself out a little more making you vulnerable but you have accuracy. Different situations call for different tactics.

Computer AI is one of the best out there. No longer are they stupid and just hang themselves out there waiting for you to kill them. They actually hide and run and cover just as much as you do. In fact if you are hiding too long they start throwing grenades at you. They set up ambushes and even look like setting up some basic military infiltrations to weed you out of your camping spot.
In the end this isn’t your average run and gun; its strategy with a lot of action. Thinking about your next move is the key to this game. With its offensive cover system and non stop action gameplay this is on my all time favorite list.

| Its only flaw a multiplayerless game keeps this from getting a higher score. | |
