Electronic Arts has announced today that SSX 3 has shipped for the GameCube, Xbox and PlayStation 2 (a Game Boy Advance version is scheduled to arrive on November 4). This third entry in the flagship EA Sports BIG brand forgoes the circuit style of play from the previous titles, and gives players an entire mountain to conquer.

In addition to adding hours and hours of courses and paths to board down, there are a number of events to participate in that gamers have not been able to with previous entries. The open ended gameplay blends seamlessly together as new areas are opened up, eventually leading to having the entire mountain opened up with the final run lasting over 30 minutes.

The trademark “over the top” trick system is still in place, as are the outrageous characters (a total of 10 playable). The PS2 version includes online play – but broadband is required to take advantage of the voice chat feature.
