There are really only two considerations a person must make before deciding whether or not to purchase this collection:
1) Do I like all of the songs included?
2) Do I not have an Internet connection for my Xbox 360?

Honestly, it’s difficult to understand the purpose of the track packs -the AC/DC Track Pack aside, the compilations feature songs that are available as downloadable content. It’s a rare person that will like every single song in the pack, so it would seem to make sense to only download the songs he likes. However, if a gamer doesn’t have an Internet connection available for his system, the track pack option could satisfy the need for an infusion of new music.

The track packs could also serve as an introduction to the whole Rock Band concept. Since the disc can be played on its own, gamers can get most of the feel of Rock Band without buying the whole game. Still, this is a weak argument, as the track packs are roughly half the cost of the whole game, and the whole game offers more in the way of customization and challenges. The track pack offers three options: play the songs, play the songs against other people, and download the songs to your collection so they can be played in Rock Band and Rock Band 2 (and, yes, “download” – the songs do not rip from the disc).

The biggest determining factor for buying this pack is the song list. Here is what is included in the Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock:

“All Right Now” – Free
“Baba O’Riley” – The Who
“Bad to the Bone” – George Thorogood & the Destroyers
“Behind Blue Eyes” – The Who
“California Über Alles” – Dead Kennedys
“Can’t Stand Losing You” – The Police
“Closer to the Heart” – Rush
“Funk #49″ – James Gang
“Hit Me With Your Best Shot” – Pat Benatar
“Holiday in Cambodia” – Dead Kennedys
“Hymn 43″ – Jethro Tull
“Kiss Them for Me” – Siouxsie & the Banshees
“Let Love Rule” – Lenny Kravitz
“Love Spreads” – The Stone Roses
“Peace of Mind” – Boston
“Red Barchetta” – Rush
“Rock and Roll Band” – Boston
“Take the Money and Run” – Steve Miller Band
“The Joker” – Steve Miller Band
“Truth Hits Everybody” – The Police

Since the track packs are meant to be a sampler, it would’ve been nice to see 20 different groups rather than having two songs from five of the groups on the disc. And certainly “Classic” can mean different things to different people, but are Pat Benatar and Lenny Kravitz what passes for “Classic Rock” these days?
