Dignews: What is the source of the comedy in your games?

Tim Schafer: It’s a reflection of the style of the people who work on the games, we like telling jokes…it’s easier to be funny.

D: Brutal Legend suffered a very public and unexpected problem with their publisher. Were there any problems in the publisher transition?

TS: Me and the team focused on the game, it was really just work for the lawyers.

D:  Did you write the part of Eddie for Jack Black?

TS: We never dreamed we’d get Jack Black, but the character was inspired by him. He said he was a fan of Psychonauts, and we had a meeting with him and he said that he’d love to do it.

D:  What was the inspiration for the look of the game?

TS:  The album covers of Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and the artwork form the Conan comics.

D:  When does the game release?

TS: Roctober 13th with a demo on September 17th.
