The PSP is getting a version of the arcade style game

It should be no secret by now that I’m into the “old school” style of arcade gaming. When I had the chance to wrap my hands around a PSP with a preview copy of Super Stardust Portable, I jumped at the chance. This was pure arcade action sized to fit the PSP perfectly.

As with any arcade style game, the commands are simple. Move the ship about the playing field with the thumbstick, and the face buttons determine which direction to fire. The D-pad selects the weapons to use, ranging from a steady laser to rockets. The shoulder buttons control a turbo boost and “bomb” function.

Sadly there isn’t much more to say because that’s all there is to the game. Stay alive and shoot everything else on the screen. The action was smooth, fast and furious. I didn’t get to play the game nearly as long as I would have liked, but what I did was thoroughly enjoyable.
