Can the Xenosaga series maintian high quality without its writer?

The developer/publisher team behind the Xenosaga series has apparently marginalized the series’ scenario writer to the point where she will not longer be participating. Soraya Saga has placed a note on her weblog stating that it was not her decision to leave the Xenosaga series.
Why somebody with a long history with the series was let go is a puzzling question. One has to wonder what will happen to the series and what direction it will take. Will we see even longer wait times between games? Below is a list of games that she has worked on:
