Initiating a craze that is sure to sweep the world in an object-collecting, ball-rolling and paper-consuming seizure of delight, it emerged today that a Japanese fan of Namco’s quirky Katamari Damacy took time out from his busy schedule of playing the game and listening to the infectious soundtrack in order to contribute to global society in a meaningful manner. Assaulting a simple sheet of paper with cunningly placed lines, obscenely bright colors and a pair of safety scissors, the man fused the strange inspiration received from the game with an unparalleled display of artistry, resulting in a hyper-detailed replica of the the game’s pint-sized protagonist, the Prince of the Cosmos.
In all our years of journalistic experience, we have never seen such an astonishingly grand creation.
Not content with blessing the masses with such A4 magnificence, the genius behind the Katamari Damacy paper art has, in an unfathomable display of generosity, seen fit to release the printable blueprint into the hands of eager and potentially deprived gamers everywhere. By downloading the image and printing it out, you too can create your own paper-enhanced Prince, complete with inexplicable Japanese mystique and frighteningly adorable pose!
Indeed, most of this website has been brought to a grinding hault, as all staff members with hands have leapt into action, fervently folding their masterpieces into shimmering existence. Andrew Anderson’s attempt has been the most successful, though a few hundred self-inflicted and vaguely gangrenous papercuts are unlikely to prevent Dan from finishing (as he proved during last year’s Nokia press conference). We also haven’t quite expained how, after following the instructions precisely, Jake McNeill ended up with a life-sized model of Shigeru Miyamoto.
It’s even one of those where the eyes follow you around the room.
