Atari has shipped Deer Hunter – friendly fire not included

Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATAR) today announced Deer Hunter(R), the outdoor hunting series that has continually raised the bar for outdoor adventure and excitement, makes its console debut on the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. Shipped to retail outlets nationwide yesterday, Deer Hunter for console delivers a new interactive hunting experience, featuring an online component for intense competition with up to four players in tournament mode.
Players can now experience the thrill and adventure of hunting as they can step into a hunter’s shoes to stalk prey, set up the shot and try to bag the game trophy of a lifetime. Online play allows friends and foes to battle it out for the ultimate bragging rights. Players can choose to play quick “Day Hunts” or track their success over time in “Season Mode.”
Deer Hunter lets players hunt in a variety of locations – Montana, British Columbia, Maine, Idaho, Mexico, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Colorado. The game offers a wide variety of animals to hunt including grizzly bears, mountain loins, goats, elk, big horn sheep, moose and of course, deer. Players can select from seventeen different weapons like shotguns, rifles and bows and take their ATV’s, boats and snowmobiles to prime hunting areas.
