Pipe Mania

The plumbing may be old, but it still works, more or less

Pipe Mania is not a new idea. Then again, not many games are these days. Back in the 80s and 90s, this game was called Pipe Dream. Modern gamers might recognize it as the hacking minigame from Bioshock. In any case, the formula behind it has been around for decades: place random pipe pieces on a grid so that a liquid (seemingly invariably called “flooze”) gets from point A to point B without spilling.

While the formula it’s based on has aged considerably, Pipe Mania is saved from complete obsolescence by having a good variety of options, including puzzle and endless modes, as well as a story mode which adds enough variety to keep you interested as long as you ignore the… well, story.

Graphically there’s nothing special here, nor anything noteworthy in the audio department, but then I suppose you wouldn’t really expect much from a puzzle game like this anyway. At the very least what’s on store here should make for a nice time-waster if nothing else.

In any case, players should find Pipe Mania to be a decent puzzle game. Just nothing especially new or compelling.
