Kuma Reality Games, the company that utilizes video game technology to recreate actual military events, has launched a compelling interactive documentary series on Saddam Hussein. Over the next month, Kuma will launch new 3D episodes that are true-to-life and depict the events that ultimately led to Saddam Hussein’s trial, in which he pled ‘not guilty’ yesterday. The first episode is a startling re-creation of the subject of his first trial, an assassination attempt that led to Hussein’s alleged mass execution of villagers in the Iraqi town of Dujayl. The second episode takes gamers in frenzied final search and eventual Hussein by U.S. troops in the infamous ‘spider hole.’ Episodes are available for free download at Kuma\War (www.kumawar.com).
“The Crime of Dujail: Saddam’s Revenge,” which goes live today, spotlights the horrific events of 1982 for which Saddam Hussein is currently on trial for ‘crimes against humanity.’ Users will enter the Iraqi town of Al-Dujayl on the very day Hussein purportedly ordered the brutal attack that resulted in the public execution of 143 villagers, the death of 15 additional citizens and the imprisonment of more than 1,500 residents. Hussein is accused of orchestrating these attacks in response to an ambush attack on his motorcade, which is the focus of the re-creation.
“In two years of re-creating history, we’ve seen the power of virtual reality to inform like no medium before it,” said Keith Halper, CEO of Kuma Reality Games. “The break in Saddam’s trial gives people around the world time to educate themselves. We’re extremely pleased to be able to help and so we’re offering these episodes for free to users everywhere. If anyone has forgotten what a monster Saddam was, we hope to remind them.”
The second episode, “The Capture of Saddam: Operation Red Dawn,” takes gamers through a detailed 3D walkthrough of the events, locations and strategies that the U.S. Army employed to capture Saddam Hussein in 2003. As a soldier in the 4th Infantry Division, users are tasked with finding the infamous dictator – you’ll search the areas code-named Wolverine One and Wolverine Two, eventually locating the 6-foot-deep spider hold in which Saddam was hiding. Filled with drama and compelling information, Operation Red Dawn gives consumers an interactive experience from a key event still resonating throughout the world.
