It appears there’s a lot of gamers out there wanting to save Sam and Max

The cancellation of any game usually brings a few groans from the gaming community, but the uproar over the cancellation of LucasArts Sam and Max: Freelance Police was deafening. Instead of allowing another publisher to pick up the title (see Capcom, Rockstar, and Red Dead Revolver) LucasArts made the decision to pul the plug entirely because the market isn’t there.
It appears that there is now a growing effort to save the title from being just another lost cause. In a move similar to those usually reserved to saving cancelled television shows, there is a fan based pettition (with over 12,000 signatures so far) and website dedicated to saving the freelance police.
Will this work? Will LucasArts listen? In the best of worlds, LucasArts would change their decision and reinstate Sam and Max: Freelance Police back into their lineup. Barring that, the publisher could allow another publisher (maybe one that speacializes in adventure style games) to release the highly anticipated title.
