FROM THE PRESS RELEASE

Spend Christmas with some of television’s most endearing, classic animated characters including the Miser brothers, Santa and the Peanuts gang when Warner Home Video (WHV) releases the all-new original movie A Miser Brothers’ Christmas and I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown Deluxe Edition on DVD October 6, 2009. Each DVD features beautiful packaging with foil detail and embossing, and will retail for $19.98 SRP.

TV fans will want to sing and dance to Heat Miser and Snow Miser’s infectious musical numbers in A Miser Brothers’ Christmas, a new holiday special featuring the beloved bickering, brotherly duo.

The story begins when Santa’s (featuring the voice of Mickey Rooney) chief mechanic, Tinsel, creates a speedy, new high-tech sleigh for Christmas.  But what Santa doesn’t know is that North Wind has secretly sabotaged the sleigh in hopes of taking Santa’s place that year.  When Santa takes it out for a spin, he gets caught in the cross fire between the feuding Snow Miser and Heat Miser Brothers and his sleigh comes crashing down.  North Wind frames the Miser Brothers for Santa’s accident. With Santa stuck in bed with a bad back, everything falls into place for North Wind to slyly come to the rescue as a temporary Santa.  But much to his chagrin, Mother Nature punishes the Miser Brothers by forcing them to put their differences aside and fill in for Santa.  In between comedic squabbles, the brothers rediscover what it means to be family and along the way, save Christmas for everyone.

A Miser Brothers’ Christmas is an all new original movie that’s available on DVD for the first time.  The special originally premiered on ABC Family’s “25 Days of Christmas” television event in 2008.  The special aired four times during the holidays and was the highest rated program on ABC Family the day it premiered.

A Miser Brothers’ Christmas Bonus Features:

What Makes Stop Motion Go – This all-new documentary featurette takes the viewer on a fun-filled journey behind the scenes to find out just what it takes to make a stop motion Christmas special. It includes interviews with the director and the team of puppeteers, designers and voice talent.  It also includes an in-depth look at the puppets, songs and sets that created the magical world of A Miser Brothers’ Christmas.

From one of the most beloved comic strips in the world, Peanuts, comes the Deluxe Edition of I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown.  This special centers on Rerun Van Pelt, Linus’ and Lucy’s lovable and wise-beyond-his-years little brother who wants a dog for Christmas after he sees what a great relationship Charlie Brown and Snoopy share.  The Van Pelts however, don’t think he’s ready or capable to care for a pet yet.

Rerun turns to Snoopy for some amusement and holiday cheer.  Snoopy obliges, however, he soon tires of Rerun’s idea of fun and games.  Rerun’s solution is to invite Snoopy’s older brother Spike to visit.  Spike makes the journey all the way from the desert. When he finally shows up, Lucy is appalled at Spike’s notoriously skinny build and invites him to stay so she can fatten him up. Will Rerun’s Christmas wish come true?

I Want a Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown Deluxe Edition Bonus Features:

óSibling Rivalry: Growing Up Van Pelt – This documentary featurette explores the creation and development of Rerun Van Pelt and how his arrival changed the family dynamics between Lucy and Linus.  Jeannie Schulz, Lee Mendelson and others discuss why Charles Schulz considered Rerun such a treasured new addition to the strip.

óBonus Episode:  Happy New Year, Charlie Brown – This delightful special was first broadcast in 1986 and has never been released on DVD before. It tells the story of Charlie Brown, who attends Peppermint Patty’s New Year’s Eve bash even though he has to finish a book report on War and Peace.  He attempts to read the novel at the party but winds up falling asleep and wakes up to find out he has missed his chance to dance with the elusive little red-haired girl, who wound up dancing with Linus instead.

“Heat Miser and Snow Miser’s characters have a tremendous following.  Their musical numbers are catchy and memorable, their family dynamics are engaging and comical, and we are delighted to offer this wonderful special along with the Peanuts’ I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown to consumers.  We think both specials really capture the spirit of the season and are destined to become a traditional holiday viewing experience with families everywhere,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President, Family, Animation and Partner Brands Marketing.
