Vegas Baby! The Hip-Hop Gaming League is pleased to announce the HHGL Celebrity Challenge (Season 2) – Finals Event! The event will occur this Friday, February 16, 2007 during NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be held at the Hard Rock Café Hotel and Casino.
Our co-host will be BET Networks who is having its Back-To-Basic Bash along with the HHGL Finals event. Our HHGL Celebrity Challenge semi-finalists will battle it out in the VIP Lounge for the two (2) seats on the Championship Stage. In addition there will be a series of exhibition matches throughout the night.
Our live event is the culmination of two (2) months of online videoplay among our 40 hip-hop stars. All our players are competing for the HHGL Championship Belt (designed by jeweler extraordinaire Han Cholo), a case of BG7 (NBA Player Ben Gordon’s energy drink), and the exclusive H3 TV System which is a 46” LCD flat screen system with 1080 P resolution (the highest resolution available) and the first and only LCD screen uniquely designed to support the ultimate gamer. H3TV is the only flat screen boasting dual console integration for simultaneous split screen viewing which permits gamers to play Xbox and PS3 at the same time.
We are happy to combine HHGL, BET Networks and an exclusive list of invitees for an evening of intense videogame competition and live performances by Ludacris, Nas, Mimms, Rich Boy and a very special guest. The evening will also feature DJ Jazzy Jeff and the greatest MC of all time……Doug E. Fresh.
In true HHGL fashion, we will also have a series of exhibition matches and HHGL coverage live from Kenny Smith All-Star Bash. Immediately following the NBA Rookie Game, we will have a 3-minute segment which will air live on TNT featuring Kenny Smith and one of our celebrity exhibition matches. We will have our exclusive HHGL gaming stations at Kenny Smith’s event throughout the night and will host other celebrity exhibition matches and challenges on the H3 TV System Kenny’s event is at the Empire Ballroom (adjacent to the MGM Hotel and Casino). It begins Friday, February 16, 2007 at 9pm – 6 am.
These events are on the heels of a tremendously successful SuperBowl weekend in Miami featuring HHGL and our sister league, the PBGL (Pro Baseball Gaming League). Snoop beat out Johnny Damon (NY Yankees) for the majority of a donation provided by MLB.com for their favorite charities; but both celebs agreed to split the proceeds evenly among their charities. Also, MLB Players Josh Barfield (Indians), Seth McClung (Devil Rays), Johnny Damon (Yankees), Prince Fielder (Brewers) and Chris Hansen (Red Sox) battled each other at the Standard Hotel for the first PBGL Championship. In the end, Chris Hansen reigned supreme and took home $20,000 in cash, a $20K gold bracelet (also designed by Han Cholo) commemorating the first PBGL Finals, and an H3 TV System.
