Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King for the first time on Special Edition DVD March 28, 2006. This amazing story is based on the twelfth-century epic poem that has been the inspiration for several adventure classics including Richard Wagner’s “The Ring Cycle.” Loaded with intense special effects and amazing CGI effects, Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King, is directed by Uil Edel (The Mist of Avalon, Body of Evidence). The film delivers powerful performances from Benno Furman (The Princess and the Warrior), Kristanna Loken (Blood Rayne, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) and Alicia Witt (Vanilla Sky). Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King Special Edition includes five bonus featurettes and will be available on DVD for an SLP of $24.96.

Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King is s fantasy adventure story that follows the son of a simple swordsmith, Siegfried (Fuermann), who is actually an orphaned prince and an heir to the throne. To save his kingdom, Siegfried engages in battle and slays an evil dragon that is guarding a cursed ancient and deadly ring. Siegfried must also face his love for both Brunnhild, Queen of Iceland (Loken), and Kriemhild, princess of Burgund (Witt).

The soundtrack to Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King will also be available on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 from Dancing Ferret Discs. The soundtrack is a blend of medieval, alternative and orchestral music, all of which are combined to evoke the moods and themes that are central to the movie. Notable contributors include The London Metropolitan Orchestra and Blackmore’s Night (a medieval rock project for Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple).
